Nigerians Resident In Bakassi Cries Out
The activities of the Cameroonian
government at Bakassi Peninsula over the Nigerians living in the area
are deplorable. The Cameroonian government is now demanding up to
N50,000 to N100,000 from the people living in the Bakassi Peninsula who
are mostly Nigerians.
The matter is so serious that many
people have moved from the Peninsula to Oron and Ibaka in Nigeria
because of the intimidation of Cameroonian Gendarmes and the threat of
burning and destroying their properties.
The money is for what they call Resident
Permit. We are therefore appealing to President Muhammadu Buhari to
help talk to the Cameroonian President, Paul Biya, on this matter so
that it may not result to another big fight between Nigeria and
Cameroon.
